muslim jeans

deep thoughts:

The AP recently wrote an article, which ran in several newspapers including the Washington Times.
http://washingtontimes.com/world/20060321-110450-7155r.htm
(The best part is the name of the President of the company, Mr. Lotta, that's classic!)

Honestly, the jeans don't look bad and I like the Arabic writing on the pockets.

But, the whole concept of jeans designed specifically for Muslims, seems somewhat odd to me.

Why would someone do something like that?
Maybe it's just the realist/conspiracist in me calling out.

Is this someone's ploy to tap into the Muslim-market? Or be able to easily identify muslims?
Dismal music playing in the background.

Well, on the bright-side at least we have become enough of a niche-market to deserve some sort of recognition. I just hope we aren't like (as the hadith desribes) foam on the sea.

After reading the article, I've decided to work on my plans in reference to the creation of kq-javanni.

look out world, here i come iA

cheers!

hot hijabi

ha! thought dat tag-line might get yo' attenshun.

i was readin an old Time magazine issue las night and found dis article quite interestin'

Looks like a Cover-Up
Designers explore a risky new strategy: modesty
http://www.time.com/time/archive/preview/0,10987,1169920,00.html

i love the very last quote referring to women's rights and how women, even afta revealin demselves dun feel happy.

a while back i was readin anutha article, which mentioned how women in arab-countries feel happier in general and have greater self-esteem as compared to women in "western" countries and da researchers/authors attributed dat to hijab. i guess it's similar to da idea of school uniforms, where uthawise da students are extremely concerned wif their appearance

often times people think hijabis are oppressed and that women somehow exercise their rights by exposing themselves. it just puts them further behind with equal gender rights, if in order to get something they have to do such a horrific thing.

...and even if a woman is "unhappy" with wearin hijab in dis life...at least she will be happy iA in the hereafta!

the hikmah in regards to the institution of hijab is amazin!

i realize i'm gonna catch a lota grief for dis postin'. i know people who wear hijab aren't all good people and non-hijabis can be jus as good or betta...but it's a command of allah, no doubt boudit and das how it is.

allah said it, i believe it, dat settles it

cheers!

why does it always rain on me?

today is the first official day of spring...although it doesn't feel like it.

i'm def. NOT a pestimist (as my wife calls it), but all dis rain has got me down.

da back wall of my office is a huge window, from ceiling to floor and wall to wall. usually it's REALLY nice and beautiful because i overlook the bay, but when it rains it sucks. it looks so dark and dreary :( i've heard da rainy season will send soon..and den we'll be back to da beautiful, sunny, california weather.

marvels of the internet (part II)

so i starting searchin for "lota" to find a picture but couldn't find anything...then i type "watering can" and find a site with instructions on selectin a watering can.
what da heck? who has time to write instructions on a lota? den again, who was time to read a random blog discussin da perils of the internet?

i'm purposely ignorin da fact dat i, i mean "someone" wrote da blog in da first place.

UPDATE

a special thanks to da kind folks at toasteroven.com, who provided me wif several quite graphic illustrations and graphix of unclothed lotas. howeva, most people (includin myself) have found deez quite offensive and vulgar, so i have excercised my right of censorship and have not posted these*.
*...actually i tried inserting the pictures and it didn't work...maybe bc of all da firewall crap at work.

cheers!

the marvels of the internet

i thought i had my arabic final exam on monday. i didn't really study (this sounds like some sort of confessional...only i'm not catholic) so i was somewhat glad it was postponed.
anywho...yesterday i decided to spend some time studying found this GREAT site. http://www.madinaharabic.com/ which has an on-line virgin (wanted to check if anyone is actually reading this) of the book we are using.
the site has this REALLY cool feature where you can "type" in arabic using a little keyboard. the only problem is sometimes it thinks you're wrong when you are right (or maybe i'm wrong and think i'm right...oh well)

cheers!

testing 1-2-3

u hafta fo'gimme. i'm totally new at dis.

i dun really see da point in doin all dis bloggin’.
perhaps one day i will wake up and have some sort of epiphany and realize da greater meanin of blogging.

until then i guess you will have to waste your time by reading the crap that i’ve wasted my time writing.

hmm..seems like such a waste.
well..atleast ih ave my trusty lota
(i wish i had a picture of a lota...if anyone has on send it to me)

cheers
